Tony Russell
Tony Russell
Tony started cycling at the age of 13, riding competitively for the South Eastern Road Club in the late 70’s, later spending his summers in Europe racing for the V.C. Forgere’s in Brittany Northern France, then gaining more experience in Europe, competing in France, Belgium and Spain.
Competitive riding then moved to the sideline as Tony started up a heating company, in London, at the age of 20, though he still rode socially.
In 1990 the opportunity to move to Queensland, Australia, and start up in the cycling industry came about. Whilst in Queensland he started riding competitively and had some success in local events, eventually winning the Queensland Criterium Championships on the Gold Coast, QLD, in 1997.
Tony is still riding today and has many a year of riding experience under his belt. He is still riding and has started racing again, his eye on the lead (though he is having to get used to losing, although still in front of John Oxenham).
So, join us for group road rides on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, including road, track and mountain biking.
